1/2-Day Glacier Lake Hike & Boat Cruise

1/2-Day Glacier Lake Hike & Boat Cruise

A non-kayaking glacier tour option that includes a visit to Gull Island, Halibut Cove and guided walk to Glacier Lake!

Experience 3 distinct ecosystems in this land-of-amazement tour; the coastal marine environment, old-growth coastal forest, and glacial outwash.  The trip begins with a narrated coastal tour; keep an eye out for sea otters, harbor seals, porpoise, and whales.  Cruising near-shore brings us up-close to a 20,000+ member sea bird rookery where the elusive puffins often make an appearance! Our tour continues into the quaint community of Halibut Cove, where guests can see a real Alaska “bush” village, completely separated from the road system. Hear colorful stories of this historic corner of Alaska.  Our private dock in Halibut Cove gives us access to a 1.5-mile walk to a nearby glacier lake.  Guests are “awed” by the views of the mile-wide Grewingk Glacier dropping into the awe-inspiring lake. Guests can actually touch a 5,000-year-old piece of ice!  Hike back to the boat, and return to Homer.
